Cycladic statue head
Marble Head of a Female Cycladic Figurine Amorgos, 2800–2300 BC Early Cycladic II period (EC II) National Archaeological Museum, Athens (inv. no. Π3909) This marble head once belonged to a statuette, most likely representing a female deity of the Cycladic world. Carved from pure white Cycladic marble, only the face survives, as the body has not been recovered. The minimalist and abstract form reflects the aesthetics of Early Cycladic II sculpture. The formal restraint and iconic simplicity of the figure suggest a ritual or votive function, marking it as a representative example of the artistic and spiritual expression of the Early Bronze Age Cyclades
