Small Relief Fragment with a Trireme Provenance: Eleusis Date: Classical period, late 5th–4th century BC (probable) Material: Marble Museum: Archaeological Museum of Eleusis Inventory number: 5255 Small relief fragment depicting a warship; the prow of a trireme and part of the hull are preserved. Such naval imagery, familiar from Attic funerary and votive reliefs of the Classical era, likely commemorated naval service or victory. The piece probably belonged to a larger monument. On the other side a depiction of goddess Demeter.
